Magistrate Ebou Sowe of the Essau magistrate court has ordered the police Commissioner, who is in charge of Barra and its surrounding localities to set up an enquiry to investigate the circumstances that led to the escape of a thief one Ebrima Ceesay.  Mr. Ceesay was held at the Barra police station, while awaiting trial. He has escaped from lawful custody. He has been charged with breaking and entry.

Magistrate Sowe issued the order today during a court sitting at Essau. This followed the police claims that the accused person Ebrima Ceesay had escaped.

The prosecution led by one Sergeant Njie and Corporal Corr have told the court that the accused person is currently at large and efforts were being made to arrest him.

The case couldn’t proceed because of the accused person’s absence. The matter has been adjourned to January 20th.  The accused Ebrima Ceesay’s last appearance in court was last week. He has escaped from police custody.
