Mayor Lowe gets observer membership status in Asian Mayors Forum

Newly elected president of the Network of Local Elected Women of Africa (REFELA)Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe has had another prestigious honor bestowed in her.

She has been accorded an observer membership in the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF).

The Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) was established with the purpose of establishing sustainable peace, promoting constructive co-operations among Asian cities and people, enhancing friendly relations among Asian cities as well as providing required ground for sustainable development of all Asian cities in different economic, social, scientific and technological fields.

In the letter conveying the honour to the mayor of Banjul the Secretary General of AMFHamidreza Gholamzadeh stated:

“I am writing to inform you that at the 6th General Assembly and the 8th Executive Board of the AMF held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 8 and 9 March 2022, your application for observer membership status to forum was welcomed and approved by the members. So, I proudly welcome your beautiful city of Banjul to the AMF family and we will further invite your city as the observer member to the AMF events. Presenting our best compliments, we wish you and your esteemed citizens, ever increasing health and prosperity”.

The membership of the Asian Mayor’s Forum (AMF) include over 29 countries namely,Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Qatar, UAE, India, Indonesia, Iran, lraq, Japan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzestan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Russia and Singapore.
