Overview

Having returned from the United Kingdom after furthering my studies, I wasn’t content with the high importation of products that could have been made in The Gambia. I decided to do something about this, and, as a frequent swimmer, I realized a gap in the market and began with Africa-inspired swimwear. Tiga is one of the pioneers of the ‘Made in The Gambia’ social media movement which has inspired many young girls and entrepreneurs.

Gambians spend Sundays enjoying the beautiful beaches that stretch across the coastline of our country, and although we pride ourselves in the vibrant colors of our African fabric, we lack locally handmade clothing, leisurewear and accessories that fit comfortably on the beach and on vacation overseas. I wanted to create clothing for those beach days and vacations, to give Gambians and our customers outside of the Gambia a local option for their swimwear, leisurewear, and accessories. Tiga thereby focuses on producing handmade Afri-leisure products using African fabric, with a desire to revolutionize the fashion industry in The Gambia while working with artisans and sourcing our materials on the African continent. We celebrate the beautiful vibrancy of African fabric, the creativity of regional fashion, and the importance of locally produced art.
