Gambia has now 277 cases, 205 active cases, 60 recoveries and 6 deaths.
The Ministry of Health stated that the Saturday 61 cases proved that about one in every four suspected cases reported, tested positive.
“Over 90% of new cases have had no recent travel history out of the country. 301 new laboratory test results were received and 221 tested negative, 61 returned positive and 19 tested probable for Covid-19.”
However, Gambians are now worried over the increase of Covid-19 cases, Awa Manneh of Bakoteh on Saturday told The Point that she was so much worried about the daily increase in the number of covid-19 cases in the country, urging for more strategies to curb the spread of the virus.
She added that many Gambians were not taking the pandemic serious, while urging for people to respect the measures given by the Health Ministry.
“The way cases are multiplying each day, is a concern to all Gambians and we should work together to fight it despite our political affiliation, religious or tribe. I heard the health workers alleging the president for not respecting the protective measures. That is wrong and shouldn’t do such because people see him as role model.”
Musa Janneh, a commuter also expressed dissatisfaction with President Adama Barrow lifting the state of public emergency as the cases are on the rise.
He called on President Barrow to provide masks to the underprivileged families who cannot afford to buy masks for their families.
“I think the increase in the cases is a concern to everyone and masks should be purchased from the covid-19 funds and distributed it to the people. The politicians should also help by providing protective materials because had it been is their political gain, then they would have put plenty of resources in it.”
