Sightsavers works to combat blindness in developing countries, restoring sight through specialist treatment and eye care. We also support people who are irreversibly blind by providing education, counseling and training. We help the people who need it most – those living in poverty in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Nova Scotia-Gambia Association (NSGA) is a registered charity in Canada and an international non-governmental organization in The Gambia. For over 25 years, NSGA has worked with West Africans and Canadians to build healthy and equitable communities in The Gambia and until recently in Sierra Leone. Through education and health promotion initiatives, NSGA staff and volunteers have become a major force in youth and community education in The Gambia. NSGA works to improve health, foster youth leadership, develop skills, and encourage citizenship. NSGA programs cut across all regions of The Gambia. Using Peer Health Education, NSGA has established programs in more than 150 schools in The Gambia.

The charity Afrikaya was formed in 2007. Why? To build a nursery school for underprivileged children in the Gambia. The creation of the school is to help this community that lives a hand to mouth existence to take control of their lives and end their poverty through education.
The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies(ACDHRS) is independent, non-profit regional human rights NGO based in Banjul, The Gambia. It was set up in 1989 by an Act of Parliament of the Republic of The Gambia. However, 1995, the African Centre was re-launched, thereby repealing the Act, and thus making the Centre a truly independent, autonomous and pan-African NGO.
ActionAid has been working in The Gambia since 1979. We focus on the rights and needs of the poorest people, including health, education, clean water and a decent living.
