There is increased enforcement of mask-wearing and other measures across the country, Ebrima G. Sankareh, the government spokesperson told The Point.
Beginning yesterday evening, there was increased police, paramilitary, Marine and Immigration official presence across the borders as scores of Senegalese return from their Eid celebrations in Senegal.

“The Ministry of Health, stakeholders and related sectors are working out major frameworks to help mitigate the worrisome trajectory of the virus,” Mr. Sankareh said.

“Since Monday the presence of traffic police in major checkpoints in the Greater Banjul Area has helped in drawing attention to the need for face masking.”

“On Tuesday, some 16 taxicab operators were arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court and charged with face mask violations. They were all convicted and fined D1000.”
