The Commander of anti crime unit Gorgi Mboob has been redeployed to the Farafenni police station as an Assistant police Commissioner. Mboob has been replaced by his Deputy Superintendent Sowe.

Mboob’s redeployment, followed an adverse human rights violation finding found against him by the newly established Gambia’s Human Rights Commission. The Commission headed by Lawyer Emmanuel Joof had recommended for Mboob’s redeployment to other units in the Force.

The officer had been sanctioned for his conduct, hence which resulted to his removal from the anticrime unit.

Mboob has been accused of torturing detainees, a charge he repeatedly denied.

Sources close to the force said, IGP Mamout Jobe had enforced the recommendations of the Commission by transferring Gorgi Mboob to Farafenni.
