The Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Badjie yesterday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a football field at Jangjangbureh town, capital of Central River Region, CRR. The project, costing D9M, will involve fencing the entire complex, putting up a perimeter fence inside, a standard football pitch with grass, two change rooms, an office and rest rooms for males and females.

Minister Badjie told a happy youth crowd in the town that President Barrow, who is currently touring the country meeting the people, has a great interest in ensuring that sports infrastructure is available in the rural areas to enable rural youths to enjoy the same opportunities available in the urban areas. ” My ministry too has similar vision and it is our job to drive this vision of the president and government to generally develop sports around the country so that all talented sports men and women would be scouted and developed to national excellence in sports,” Mr Badjie said.

The contractor of the project is Top Spot Properties. It’s CEO Hatab Darboe assured the Minister that the project will be completed in the stipulated 24 months. He informed the minister and cabinet colleagues that TOP Spot Properties will continue to play its role in the attainment of the National Development Plan, NDP. He said his company started in 2012 and is staffed by 25 Gambians, all skilled in different fields in civil engineering, including architectural engineering, among others, adding that all of them are devoted to the successful completion of this project.
