The Gambia has yesterday registered four new cases of COVID 19, taking the total number of cases ever confirmed in the country to three thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven.
All the four cases were tested on account of being intending travellers. The median age of the new COVID-19 cases is 31.
Thirteen new high-risk contacts of the newly confirmed COVID-19 caseshave been identified and their followed-up began in earnest.
No new COVID-19 related death was registered and no posthumous sample tested.
This is the 232nd national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 16th March 2020.
The Gambia currently has nineteen people under quarantine and six active cases.
Modou Njai the Director of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health said two hundred and ninety-one new laboratory test results were received from the National Public Health Lab.
Of these, he said four new samples tested positive, representing a positivity test rate of 1.4%. No new test returned undetermined.
Director Njie said fourteen new people were taken into quarantine and sixteen were discharged. He said four new COVID-19 patients were discharged.
