In Athletics, two Gambians achieved the entry standards, either by qualifying time or by world ranking. Ebrima Camara is on track for the Men’s 100 m. Meanwhile, Gina Bass is The Gambia’s chance of a medal for the Women 100 m and 200 m.

In Judo, The Gambia has only one qualified judoka for the men’s lightweight category (73 kg) at the Games.

Faye Njie, who competed in the Rio 2016, accepted a continental berth from Africa as the nation’s top-ranked judoka outside of the direct qualifying position in the IJF World Ranking List of June 28, 2021.

Faye Njie begins the shots on Monday, 26 July at 2:30 AM in Men’s Round of 32 for the 73kg.

In Swimming, Ebrima Buaro will compete in the Men’s 50 m Freestyle after The Gambia received a universality invitation from FINA to send a top-ranked male swimmer in his respective individual events to the Olympics, based on the FINA Points System of June 28, 2021.

This is The Gambia’s tenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics since our country’s debut at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
