Gambian Papa Gassama is among 24 central referees selected to officiate at next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroun. The list of officials released yesterday comprises central referees, Video Assistant Referees (VAR) and assistant referees.
Caf retained 24 central referees from the 2019 Afcon, 9 specialist VAR referees and 31 assistant referees drawn from across more than 20 countries.
There is a guest referee, Drew Fisher, from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, abbreviated as Concacaf. He is part of the VAR team.
The delayed 2021 Afcon will run from January 9 to February 6, 2021, in Cameron as 24 teams compete for the ultimate in the 33rd edition of the competition.
