After beating Zanzibar 2-1 in the latest round of matches at the African amputee football championship in Tanzania, the Gambian team went on to beat Nigeria on penalties to win 9th place in the tournament’s overall ranking.

Nigeria took the lead but even with 6 players after a red card for Bakary Barrow, The Smiling Coast Scorpions took the Nigerians to extra time thanks to an Ebrima – Germano – Jallow equalizing goal. The Gambia won 4-2  in the resultant penalty- kicks. This now takes them to 9th place in the rankings.

However the victory was not enough to keep them in the tourney as they top those who didn’t make it out of the group stages.
