The staffers of the Guaranty Trust Bank are on strike, Freedom Newspaper can report. Bank workers at the busy Kairaba Avenue GT Bank headquarters have decided not to work unless their demands are met by the management.
The GT Bank is currently not operational. Workers said they will not resume work unless management revamp their working conditions. They are demanding better pay, incentives, health benefits, among others.
“We have been ignored when it comes to promotion. The new MD has sidelined us. He is cherry-picking when it comes to promotion of workers,” one of the staffers said.
“The newly graduated UTG students were promoted. We have been working here for years, and yet no promotion. Our condition of service is bad. We want better pay, good incentives, and reliable health benefit,” the staffer added.
Customers couldn’t access the bank because of the protest action.
Meanwhile, the Bank’s first Deputy Governor, has been appealing with the staff to return to work. He promised to look into their demands.
