Two women sports leaders, Mariama Sowe of Gambia Volleyball Federation and Awa Sanneh from the Gambia Swimming Association, are currently representing the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) at the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOCA- ZONE 2) women in sports seminar which started in Conakry this week.

The seminar is meant to encourage and empower active participation of young women sports administrators and build their capacities in decision making processes in the management of national sports associations and federations.

“We expect the two young ladies will become good ambassadors for women in sport and will use their capacity to encourage more young girls to venture into sport,” GNOC executive director Muhammed Janneh said.

Sowe is the former captain of Gambia women national Volleyball team and currently serves as a member of the Gambia volleyball Federation executive committee whiles Awa Sanneh is a senior official of the management team of the Swimming Association of The Gambia.
