Gov’t promises D15m media support

This information was disclosed by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mambury Njie, during a debate on Supplementary Estimates Bill 2020 by the National Assembly.

Giving weight to the issue, Madi M.K. Ceesay, member for Serrekunda West, said the media is playing a very important role in the fight to combat the spread of the coronavirus across the country, thus giving that money to the media will empower them to do their work effectively. 

Muhammad Magassy, the lawmaker for Basse, stated that there is a need to empower the media houses across the country because the Gambian journalists are doing a great job in this country especially at this trying time.
