Papa Chaw, a former Real De Banjul player and captain of Saul Samba FC of Bakau, is now playing in the Italian Seconda Categoria Girone A league with Armeno FC after briefly playing for A.S.D Agrano in the same league.

A native of Bakau, Papa is 25, and has an enviable record of having played in all categories of Gambian domestic football with Real De Banjul, FC Milan and Saul Samba of Bakau.

The promising prolific striker had also played in the Senegalese league with AS Thies before taking on the backway journey to Italy a few years ago.

Chaw last month featured in his team’s 5-1 victory against Gravellona San Pietro in the Coppa Italia scoring twice in the process in what was one of his high profile games.

The former Real De Banjul star who left Gambian shores in 2005 has now set his eyes on playing for the Gambia national team. “My congratulations to the little humble man whose love for Gambia cannot be over emphasised,” Papa’s old time friend who is currently playing in Senegal commented on hearing news of his progress in Italy.
