The President of the Gambia Football Federation, Lamin Kaba Bajo, and Vice-Chair of the Committee tasked to raise funds for the “Road to Afcon” have renewed calls to the football fraternity and Gambians to contribute to the course.
The committee is tasked with raising D120 million to facilitate preparations for The Gambia’s maiden participation in the continental showpiece event.
“I am calling on every Gambian both home and abroad to come on board and contribute. We are looking for 120 million, and all we have so far is a pledge by the President for half a million,” said GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo.
The Head of Media and Publicity, Sub-Committee, Musa Sise, also President of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG), appealed to the public to come and patronize the scorpions while underscoring plan activities to raise more funds.
“We already started negotiations with the public and private sector, and some of those discussions are at an advanced stage. But, we cannot do this alone. We need everyone. We will create the platforms for the people to contribute,” he said
The scorpions are scheduled for a training camp in Morocco next month. In addition, they will partake in other pre-tournament matches in November, according to GFF officials.
