A peace tournament organised by the youths of Pakau Ward in Upper Nuimi got under way in Kerr Dekodeh village on November 20. Five teams are in the tourney staged to promote unity among the youths in the ward. In the opening match Guly Boys beat Young Boys 2-0 with Omar Sowe and Amadou Bah scoring in both halves.
On the following day Sunday, Black Star defeated Kerr Dekodeh FC 1-0 with Omar Sarjo Bah’s lone goal.
In last weekend’s matches, Old Hands drew nil- nil against Young Boys as Kerr-Dekodeh again lost. They were beaten 1-0 by Guly Boys. The tournament continues on Friday with Black Star meeting Old Hands as Young Boys take on Kerr Dekodeh FC on Sunday.
Addressing the youths at the opening of the tournament, the councilor of the ward Alhagie Saho thanked the youths from the ward for naming the tourney after him. .
“I urge all of you to use this tournament to promote peace and cohesion in your communities. I am impressed with your initiative and will give you all the support necessary throughout the tournament,” Saho said.
The chairperson of the organising committee of the tournament, Modou Jawo advised the teams to have a peaceful tournment.
