At the request of Gambia’s government, China dispatches an anti-coronavirus squad to the West African country to assist its fight against COVID-19 on November 8.

The anti-epidemic medical mission is scheduled to last for three months. Another team of medical experts is also leaving for Gambia on a year-long mission to aid efforts aimed at upgrading the overall health care system of the country.

A departure ceremony has been held Saturday afternoon in Shenyang City, northeast China’s Liaoning Province.

In March, The Gambia received an assortment of medical supplies – 20, 000 test kits, 1000, 000 masks, 740 sets of protective clothing and 1000 sets of protective shields – as donation from Jack Ma and Alibaba Foundations from China.

The items were said to be part of a continent-wide gesture from the Foundations to support 54 African countries with 1.1 million test kits, 5.4 million masks, 40, 000 sets of protective clothing and 60,000 sets of protective shields to strengthen Africa’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
