First Time in 2 Months, Gambia Registers 11 New COVID-19 Cases

Gambian health authorities have reported that The Gambia on Tuesday, 14 December registered 11 new cases of the deadly virus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases ever registered in the country to ten thousand and forty-five.

This significant number of COVID-19 confirmed cases have not been registered in the country for the past two months.

The health authorities also reported that no new COVID-19 related death was registered. The total deaths still remain at three hundred and forty-two.

This is the 407th national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 16 March, 2020.

“One COVID-19 patient is currently on oxygen therapy,” they reported.

“Three cases were discharged after at least 10 days from the day they tested positive. One COVID-19 patient evaded institutional isolation treatment centres.”

As of 9th December 2021, the following number of people have been vaccinated against the deadly virus with: Johnson and Johnson: Only 1 dose: 197,073, Sinopharm: Dose 1: 4,468, Dose 2: 3,313, AstraZeneca: Dose 1: 40,661, Dose 2: 27,880.
