Gambia’s track queen Gina Bass, has again proved herself a serious contender for a medal in the women’s 200m of the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.

With a chrono of (22.74sec), Gina Bass made it through for the Women’s 200m semi-finals of the Games.

Gina’s major rivals for a medal are Namibian teenager Christine Mboma, her compatriot Beatrice Masilingi, United States’ Jenna Prandini, Australia’s Riley Day, Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josee Ta Lou, Niger’s Aminatou Seyni, and Nigeria’s Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha who have all advanced to the next round.

Mboma and Masilingi were informed in July by World Athletics that their testosterone levels were beyond the allowed limit for female athletes wanting to run their preferred distance of 400m unless they medically lower their testosterone for a period of at least six months

After overcoming major challenges in training, while going through COVID-19 restrictions, Gina is still alive in the Olympics.
