The Deputy Party Leader of the People Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) said aspirants seeking to be elected in the December presidential election were hiding during the 2016 political impasse.

“The reason we (PDOIS) are not in a hole right now is because of this man standing (pointing to Halifa Sallah). When the former President refused to step down, everyone ran away. The people that left for Senegal went up to sixty thousand because they said there will be fight in the country. Those going around today and telling you, if you elect me as a president, I will do this; I will do that, were under the bed in 2016.

“That’s why your shouting is good but please listen to the message and use your minds. In every hundred in The Gambia, Sixty percent are youths. How are they going to feed…? How are they going to work? Travelling outside cannot solve the problem. So this coming election if you cannot remove Gambia in the hole, then you will go inside the hole,” Sedia Jatta told the people of Bakalar in Nuimi.

Mr Jatta made these remarks in the Upper Niumi settlement of Bakalar in the ongoing PDOIS caravan tour.
