International Coastal Cleanup Day, is a day the world celebrates to reduce pollution in the ocean.
This year the passionate youths ( change-makers) of Tanji came up with very sound and brilliant ideas of which everyone will be brought onboard to be involved in the general cleansing. And so today, so many students of Tanji Lower Basic School took part in the annually held cleansing exercise to commemorate the exciting and nature preserving day. Together we are all part of the solution to reduce the pollution!

Learning does not only center within the four corners of the classroom but instead it has to go by beyond; thus, as a teacher and a role model to these enthusiastic and passionate students I deemed it necessary to get them involved in voluntary work so that they can be part of the change-makers for our beloved motherland,The Gambia. In other to explore the other individual brilliance of a student it has to go beyond the classroom, and this day has predominantly highlighted that effect.

I wouldn’t do any justice without thanking all the organizers, volunteers, my Dutch friend ( Paola), and all other important people duly present on the ground; as the perseverance, boldness and commitment shown during the exercise was extremely overwhelming!

We can all participate in making a change in our environment; certainly the students of Tanji Lower Basic School give it all out today!
